Ann Backhouse
Trial Lawyer
Ann joined KazLaw in January 2011. A native of the UK, Ann obtained her law degree from Oxford University before broadening her horizons by working for a non-profit organization in Kenya. On returning to the law, Ann was given the prestigious position as clerk in the United Kingdom Court of Appeal (Civil Division) before qualifying as a lawyer in 1997.
During her years as a litigation lawyer in the UK, Ann represented many clients in property litigation, general commercial litigation and regulatory work. Ann applies this breadth of litigation experience to her personal injury clients at KazLaw.
Since immigrating to Canada in 2008, Ann has embraced the outdoor lifestyle. Along with her husband and her two sons, she enjoys running, hiking, skiing and snowshoeing. Her boys have not yet managed to persuade her to try longboarding.
