Hermanie Chiong*
Trial Lawyer
Hermanie joined KazLaw in 2019 after obtaining her law degree with honours from the University of Oxford. Having grown up in Metro Vancouver, she returned after graduation to practise in her hometown. She was called to the bar in 2020, becoming one of the youngest lawyers in the province.
In the United Kingdom, she completed a court pupillage where she accompanied judges in proceedings at a Crown Court in London. Hermanie’s experience allowed her to gain valuable insight into what the key considerations of a case are, from the judges’ perspectives. Her studies involved a special focus on complex causation and negligence. She graduated from Oxford with the Boulter Prize and a Master’s.
No matter what she is tasked with, her goal is simple – to assist and empower people through a challenging period in their lives. Coming from a diverse background, Hermanie reaches practical solutions by approaching problems with cultural awareness. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, with limited working proficiency in French.
Hermanie is a painter and clay sculptor. Outside of the office and art studio, she is restless. To satisfy her inner adventurer, she explores new places from markets and museums, to foreign cities.
